Welcome Friends!
Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the internet! My name is Cherish Jones, and I’m the creator of Why Not Dry? A sober blog and resource for you on your alcohol-free journey.
I began my alcohol-free journey in January of 2023. I was exhausted by the cycle of binge-drinking and hangxiety that followed. I needed a change, and while it wasn’t easy, it has been the best thing I have ever done. I hope to inspire readers like you to be more present and love life again.

My Sober Journey
In 2022 I started to think hard about my relationship with alcohol and the effects it was having on my life. After drinking for half of my life to help cope with anything from grief to work stress, I realized my drinking was problematic and probably a considerable source of my anxiety and depression. While it seems obvious to me now, I didn’t really realize how much of an issue it was back then. In January of 2023, I decided at the recommendation of an influencer to read a book called “This Naked Mind” by Annie Grace. I always knew alcohol wasn’t good for you, but reading this helped open my eyes to see that I wasn’t alone, and I could only improve my life by removing this habit for good.
I spent those early days bored and struggling with how to fill my time that I’d usually spend drinking on the weekend. As time went on, I started to learn who I was again. I remembered the things I enjoyed as a teenager, before alcohol took hold of me. I went to therapy and started to deal with deep-rooted issues that were contributing to my drinking. Slowly, I started feeling healthier, happier, and more confident in my life without alcohol. Now, my goal is to help others who feel the same way I did in the beginning and to reevaluate what role drinking plays in their lives. I hope to write content that gives guidance, inspires, and to help others know that they are not alone in this.
